Merry Christmas!… in July!
I am currently working on a Christmas quilt just for me!
I have never actually made a Christmas quilt believe it or not… but have always wanted one. This year in my local guild we decided we would all try to make ourselves a Christmas quilt this year. We started planning it out in January.
First I picked out my pattern….
Just loved this one by Amy Smart of Diary of a Quilter. I love the wonky-ness and whimsical look. I also love the simplicity! Lol.
Then I came across this fabric…
Swell Christmas by Urban Chic. I loved the vintage feel of it. And I liked that it had some pink in it… different feel for a Christmas quilt.
Here is a great FQ bundle you can find at Fat Quarter Shop HERE
Here are a few of my blocks…
I think I should have thought more about contrast in some of these…. I mean I did but I could have used a few solids in here! A little busy feeling for me to just sew all these together. Hey… you learn something from every quilt. I’m thinking of adding some sashing to break it up a little… what do you think? Or should I just see them together and get a beautiful crazy quilt:)
Now is the time to get going on your Christmas quilt! Lots of Beautiful Christmas fabric lines are out and Christmas in July Sales.

Paula, I love it! I don’t think it’s too busy at all. I’d leave out the sashing.
Thanks!
I love your blocks! That fabric is great. Can’t wait to see it finished!
Thanks Ruth!
I love it! I think it does have nice contrast. I don’t think it needs sashing. Pretty just like it is.
Thanks lady:)
I adore Amy’s wonky pattern, too. I like the fabric line you chose. I like the pink – it’s just a whiter shade of red after all. The quilt is perfect. I’ve never made a Christmas quilt either – maybe this will be the year. I think it’s wonderful that your guild encouraged everyone to make a Christmas quilt this year and you decided that in January. Great job.
Thanks!
I love your blocks and I would not sash them either. I’l be happy if I get a table runner or topper made for myself.
Thanks Tonia!
Really great post thanks for sharing it.
